Toldos 5770

The Prophet reprimands the Jewish people in this week’s Haftorah for failing to give Hashem the honor that is rightfully due to Him. “And if you present a blinded animal as a sacrifice – is there nothing wrong with this? Or if you present a crippled animal or a sick one – is there nothing wrong with this? Offer it to the ruler of your province – will he accept it; will he honor you?!” (Malachi 1:8) If the way we perform Hashem’s mitzvos would be considered disgraceful were we to give honor to a human ruler in the same manner, then we have serious problems. Powerful, direct and simple. If it’s not good enough for man, it is certainly not good enough for the Ribono Shel Olam!
